AV Recording and Streaming Specialist Job at Harvard University
Job Summary
The AV Recording and Streaming Specialist will work on location with the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) to setup, operate and maintain video, recording, livestream and multimedia equipment for classes and events on the Allston and Cambridge, MA campuses.
Position Description
- Support faculty, administrators and other constituencies with video and multimedia in classrooms and event spaces.
- Record and livestream classes, meetings, and events primarily within the Science and Engineering Complex in Allston.
- Operate installed and portable professional AV equipment including:
- Projectors, LED Displays and LED Walls
- Matrix and Routing Switchers
- Crestron Operating and Control Systems
- Image Capture and Annotation Presentation Technology Streaming Hardware and Software
- Portable Media Equipment
- Audio and Video Recording Systems Wireless and Wired Microphones
- Audio Mixers
- Video Cameras including Document and Robotic Cameras
- Troubleshoot networked AV systems including audio and video.
- Work with departments to create academic scheduling calendars for recording and livestreaming purposes.
- Coordinates, researches, and makes recommendations for equipment software and hardware as needed.
- Early morning, later evening and weekend coverage required on occasion.
- Other duties as needed.
Basic Qualifications
3 years of related experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
- College degree preferred, as well as dedicated experience in video production, recording and livestreaming at the industrial, educational, live event or broadcast level.
- Knowledge of Panopto, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Kaltura and Canvas.
- Experience with ticketing systems such as Service Now.
- Advanced knowledge in video matrix switchers, remote cameras, livestream software such as Panopto and Crestron control systems.
- Experience using video, recording and livestream equipment including AJA, Analog Way, Black Magic, Extron, Crestron, Vaddio and Sony.
- Photoshop and graphic design experience preferred.
- Analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Customer service experience in a fast-paced, academic environment where quality delivery and relationship building are valued.
- Effective interpersonal skills including written and verbal communications.
Physical Requirements
The individual in this role may be in work situations where the ability to carry up to 20 pounds unassisted and to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance is needed. Standing and sitting for considerable lengths of time might also be required.
Working Conditions
The individual in this role will travel frequently between 114 Western Avenue and 150 Western Avenue (The Science and Engineering Complex) to provide service and support to AV equipped rooms spanning over eight floors. Occasional support will also be required for events taking place on the Cambridge campus.
Early morning, later evening and weekend coverage required on occasion.

- This position will be based in Allston, MA. Occasional travel to the campus in Cambridge, MA may be necessary. This is an on campus/onsite position.
