We are looking for line techs!
I have included a DETAILED list of common tech questions below:
WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO THE TECHNICIANS?
How will my pay increase? Annual review? With training?
· We do monthly reviews here with the shop foreman and annual reviews with the service manager. We track training progress, set monthly and annual goals, compare goals to performance, etc. Pay increases are directly correlated with training goal attainment and can be earned as quickly as you can complete training.
What is the pay?
· Pay is different for everyone but is determined based on experience and level of training attainment.
Flat rate or Hourly?
· All of our technicians are on flat rate pay plans WITH guaranteed hours weekly. We want to make sure you don't suffer when the work is slow. We strongly believe in paying for performance. The smarter and harder you work, the more money you can make. There is no restriction on how many hours you can turn each week or how early/late you want to work. If you want to put in extra hours and turn more flag hours, the result will be a higher check for you at the end of the week.
Do you have a bonus program?
· Yes! We actually have multiple bonus programs. We have a VERY aggressive flag bonus program that allows you to get a flat rate pay increase based on how many hours you turn. For instance, if you turn 60 hours or more in one week (most of our techs turn over 60 hours) you will get a $6 PER HOUR RAISE! We also have a spiff program that pays cash for upsells weekly.
Do you provide training?
· Yes, we strongly believe in continued education for our technicians. We have several online training platforms that have new courses quarterly. We do require technicians to complete these new courses each quarter. We also have on-site training through the manufacturer in Dallas, TX. We provide a vehicle to drive, hotel accommodations, food expense coverage, and on top of that, we pay you for your training time.
What is the advancement in the Shop? Team Leader? Shop Foreman?
· We strongly believe in promoting from within and have many technicians that have worked their way up the ladder with us.
Do you have a tool allowance?
· We have several tool trucks that come to the dealership on a weekly basis. They offer zero interest loans.
Do you have insurance on tools?
· Yes. Our garage insurance covers everything inside the shop including your tools. If there is ever a break in, we have a state-of-the-art security system with monitored cameras. If there is ever a natural disaster, that is covered as well.
Do you have AC in the shop?
· Yes! We have two 10-ton air conditioning units that keep the shop at a very comfortable 75 degrees throughout the year. Though our winters are pretty mild here, we also have heat that runs during the necessary times of the year.
Do you have a dedicated shop clean up person?
· Yes, we have 1-2 porters that work cleaning the shop, transporting customers, special upkeep projects and service drive attending.
Are you corporate owned or family?
· We are family owned and operated by the same owner for 30 years. He is here every day of the week and knows everyone that works here personally.
What are the benefits?
· We offer many benefits including:
o Accrued paid sick days
o Paid vacation (up to 3 weeks)
o Employer matched 401K
o Paid health insurance
o Proven growth record
o Family owned and operated
o 5 paid holidays observed annually
o Paid training
o Many more items located on the Benefits page attached
Do you match 401K?
· Yes, we have a 401K that is employer matched up to 4% of your annual earnings.
How is the work divided up? Teams? Central dispatch?
· Work is dispatched directly from service advisors based on whoever is available to take the next job.
What are your hours and am I required to work weekends?
· Our hours and Monday – Friday 7:15 - 5:00 and Saturday 7:15 – 1:00
· We run a “skeleton crew” on Saturdays (1 tech and 2 Lube techs), the schedule is made once a quarter and line techs end up working roughly one Saturday a month and lube techs work roughly two Saturdays a month. However, if you have work and you want to come in and turn more hours, we do not limit you.
Do you have PTO/sick pay?
· We believe family is extremely important. We work with you if you need to leave early for a family event, football game, doctor appts, etc. We also have paid sick time that is accrued monthly and is available with any doctor’s excuse.
Do you provide uniforms?
· Yes, we provide uniform pants and shirts. We also offer a service where they are laundered for you weekly. You will never have to wash or press your own clothes again! This is $7 a week.
Do you provided a toolbox, or would I use my own?
· We have top of the line built in Lista toolboxes. Every tech gets their own box and a key to lock their tools away.
If I use my box, will you provide a way to move my toolbox?
· We provide a service to pick up your toolbox from your current employer, bring it to our dealership, help you move tools over to your built-in toolbox, and then deliver your empty toolbox wherever you would like.
How many back-counter staff do you have?
· We have a 4-person parts department which includes two full time back counter staff, a manager/front counter person and a runner.
How does the back-counter staff get paid?
· They are on a commission-based pay plan
How do you handle comebacks?
· Comebacks are carefully tracked and tended to. As soon as a comeback is reported, the service manager and shop foreman are notified. At that point we all work together to ensure the vehicle is fixed correctly and is driven multiple times before it leaves again. The shop foreman also re-addresses these comebacks during the monthly reviews.
Am I charged for a part if I break it?
· We understand accidents happen. Each accident is reviewed on an individual basis to determine if carelessness was a contributing factor. Typically the shop pays for true accidents and the technician steps up and pays for carelessness.
In what length of time would I have to train with a Master Technician?
· Our shop foreman works closely with all incoming technicians to determine how much one on one time is needed. We have an excellent apprenticeship program for newer upcoming technicians where you work directly under the shop foreman to learn our advanced trade.
In what length of time will I have prior to going FR?
· This is determined on an individual basis and is based on training, experience, etc.
How is conflict resolution handled?
· Conflict resolution, while rare, is handled on an individual basis. However, we have a very detailed employee handbook that outlines all options for dealing with any roadblocks you may run into. We have a shop foreman, service manager, human resource department, and owner that all maintain an open-door policy and are always willing to listen and help.
Are there efficiency/productivity requirements?
· We proudly run a highly efficient and productive shop. We create an environment where our technicians can thrive. In order to do this we have daily, weekly, and monthly reports where we track these kinds of numbers. We talk about them, share them and strive to meet them constantly.
Are there efficiency/productivity Bonuses?
· Yes, all technicians have a variable rate that increases as production increases, up to $6/hour raise when you flag over 60 hours.
How do you pay while at Tech school?
· We pay 8 hours of time at your flag rate per full day of training
How does the school perdiem work?
· We pay for hotel, food and gas expenses. We also provide a vehicle to drive since most of the training is 3 hours away at the GM school in Dallas, TX.

THE HISTORY BEHIND MARKETPLACE CHEVY BUICK:
DeSoto Parish has been proudly represented by our dealership for more than 95 years. The dealership was founded and operated for many years by the Lowrey family.
In the 1980's the dealership was sold to Jack Harper, a businessman in south Louisiana. Understanding that the dealership was difficult to operate via long distance, Mr. Harper sold the dealership to James Lynch and his partner Jimmy Granger.
James and Jimmy had been partners and business associates for many years, starting in the car business together in 1980. Together they owned and operated the Ford Dealership in Mansfield. As the business grew, James Lynch sold his interest in the Ford dealership to Jimmy Granger and brought in John Adams as a partner in the GM dealership.
Mansfield Auto World was formed in early 1990 to purchase the dealership from Mr. Harper, and began operating the Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac dealership in Mansfield, Louisiana in June of 1990. In June of 1991, General Motors appointed Mansfield Auto World as the franchisee for DeSoto Parish - and so begins our history.
Twenty-eight years later many things have changed in our world and at General Motors. Oldsmobile and Pontiac and been discontinued, DeSoto Parish once dominated by the timber industry now sit atop one of the largest natural gas discoveries in North America, but Mansfield Auto World remains constant. We are still owned by the Lynch and Adams families and we proudly represent Chevrolet and Buick.
Over the years we have seen our family change and grow. We have seen our team members start families, we have seen kids start and finish school, we seen kids get married and bring home grandchildren, and in many cases we have seen the full circle of life.
Today Mansfield Auto World has thousands of past and present customers. Many of our customers are located in DeSoto Parish, but we also have many customers all over north Louisiana and east Texas. We once delivered a new vehicle to Alaska, it was sold to Mr. Lynch's brother. James Lynch and John Adams contribute the success of Mansfield Auto World to the principals they operate under - honesty, integrity, and fairness.
James Lynch says, "Twenty-eight years after we started this business, we continue to serve our customers as we would want to be served. We are not absentee owners; you can walk into our store and walk into my office. We are here because of you and for you. We are a family business, come meet our family and let us serve your family."
