Job Summary
POSITION SUMMARY
The Automation Technician II has general responsibility for the support of large engineering capital projects, including the installation and start up of high speed automated manufacturing formulation, filling, sterilization, and packaging systems.
Responsibilities
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES PERFORMED BY THE INCUMBENT
- Installing, relocating, inspecting, calibrating and/or validating highly automated equipment such as high speed filling, formulation, material flow, sterilization, and packaging equipment, vision systems, robots, Siemens & B&R PLC’s and/or PCS7 DCS systems
- Troubleshooting and repairing automated equipment as an SME in both the support of engineering projects and the manufacturing production floor
- Properly resourcing and utilizing manuals, SOPs, specifications, and other workplace aids
- Actively communicating project status timelines and updates with engineering and other cross functional stakeholders
- Identifies and implements productivity changes to achieve increasing OEE on manufacturing equipment.
- Supports and trains technical staff in manufacturing department on automated processes to ensure proficiency in operation of the equipment
- Preparing, editing and/or updating documents to include maintenance, quality, production, change controls and other documents/reports as deemed appropriate
- Completing assigned training in a timely manner
- Training new and existing personnel as required
- Promote safe work practices
- Participating in and leading, as assigned, continuous improvement projects
- Monitors the work of others to include contracted vendors
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- Associate degree or Licensed Journeyman with minimum of 1 – 2 years of work experience in a troubleshooting or mechanical role in a highly automated manufacturing operation;

- Five plus years of work experience in a troubleshooting or mechanical role in a highly automated manufacturing operation
- Pharmaceutical experience is a plus
- Demonstrated knowledge of controls and control systems to include SCADA and PLC
- Previous experience in the installation, maintenance and modification of high speed filling, formulation, material flow, sterilization, and packaging equipment, vision systems, servo systems, robots, Siemens & B&R PLC’s and/or PCS7 DCS systems
- Demonstrated effective work planning skills
- Ability to effectively communicate and contribute to cross functional teams.
- Medium-Heavy work; exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Must be willing to work multiple shifts, as needed
