Team Coco
Built on the spirit of Conan O’Brien’s brand of smart and silly comedy, award winning Team Coco, which was recently acquired by SiriusXM, is a fan-centric multi-platform media company driven by O’Brien and a carefully curated network of other top talent that spans across digital and branded content, live events, merchandise and expertly produced comedy specials. Team Coco Podcasts currently produces ten unscripted podcasts: Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend, The Three Questions with Andy Richter, Literally! with Rob Lowe, Inside Conan: An Important Hollywood Podcast, Scam Goddess, Why Won’t You Date Me with Nicole Byer, May I Elaborate? Sound Wisdom from J.B. Smoove, Parks and Recollection, The Juice and Significant Others, all of which have been downloaded more than 418 million times to-date. Team Coco Podcasts has also produced two scripted podcasts in co-production with Luminary: Frontier Tween and SMARTR as well as A Total Switch Show, Self Center and Funny My Way in co-production with Audible.
How you’ll make an impact:
Team Coco is looking for an Audio Engineer to support podcast production across the network. In addition to our existing slate of successful shows like Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, Why Won’t You Date Me with Nicole Byer, May I Elaborate: Daily Wisdom From JB Smoove, and Literally! With Rob Lowe, the team is ramping up production on several shows which will feature a wide range of voices and formats. Our ideal candidate is creative, collaborative and detail-oriented, with a deep love for humor and storytelling. The applicant must have the ability to arrange music stems and composition experience is a huge plus. The candidate will be able to independently execute every step of podcast production, from running recording sessions to mixing and mastering the final product. The candidate will demonstrate excellent editorial sensibilities, as they will be shaping the sound and tone of the show, selecting and placing music, and editing content. There will also be opportunities to create original music and audio backdrops for our shows. The candidate will be deadline-oriented and work closely with the production team to create and execute production planning. The engineer will report to the executive producer.
The candidate will need to be based in LA and available in person as needed.
What you’ll do:
- Work closely with the production team to create funny, expertly-crafted content
- Work with show producer to create, monitor, and implement production schedules
- Mix and master external facing audio including ads, episodes, promos, etc. to the specifications of the production team
- Engineer in-studio and remote recordings, including prep and tech-check ahead of time and file management after the fact
- Manage, advise on, and order technical equipment
- Assist guests and production staff with technical needs, including troubleshooting issues with ProTools, and setting them up with equipment
- Either deliver or coordinate research depending on the show
What you’ll need:
- Minimum three years of professional audio production experience
- Experience working in radio or podcasts
- ProTools expert
- Knowledgeable about recording equipment and programs, especially for remote recordings
- Skilled with mixing/mastering plug-in suites like Waves and Izotope.
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Experience working closely with a team
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Close attention to detail at every step of the production process
- Experience building out production schedules
- Ability to edit music and place music
- Ability to compose, sound design, and arrange music stems is a huge a plus
- Must have the legal right to work in the U.S.
At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $60,000 to $110,500 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
