Description/Job Summary
SUMMARY
As an Associate Technical Illustrator, your primary responsibilities are to assist with development of new operation, parts, assembly "LEGO blocks" illustrations, product mechanical/electrical illustrations, and safety technical manuals for end users, maintain existing technical manuals and assist with design and maintenance of product labeling for safety and informative purposes. You will collaborate with Engineering, Production, Maintenance and Safety teams. By taking a hands-on approach working with our products, you'll ensure a comprehensive development of SIG manuals, technical documents and brochures.

Essential Functions:
Work closely with the Technical Writer/Illustrator to create text, graphics and other components required to produce technical manuals and decals.
Good mechanical aptitude, diagnostic and investigation skills are required to help SIG end-users operate, investigate (root-cause), troubleshoot and provide solutions
Assist with design and layout publications and decals with an attractive look, logical flow and efficient navigation.
Assist with design of product labeling based on standards set by ANSI, EN and ISO regarding size, color and content.
Create and edit effective technical illustrations and/or use of photography for the best method possible to reflect topics of publications under supervision.
Create and edit effective technical illustrations by use of the engineering CAD system(s).
Communicate with manufacturing personnel to coordinate documents that are packaged with products.
Work with outside vendors as required (printing, translations, etc.).
Assist with product publications for pre-production products.
Maintain records of all technical publications currently in use.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Associates degree required or equivalent work experience
Experience / Abilities:
1-4 years of experience
Experience in development or technical support of industrial equipment a plus
Experience working directly with engineers in a technical support capacity
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics required
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Computer skills:
Proficiency in MS Office suite and WordPerfect required
Adobe design suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc) or similar required
Basic photography skills a plus
Experience in SharePoint, Solidworks and Autodesk CAD a plus
