Job Description
The Ohio University Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education, Department of Teacher Education is accepting applications for an Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction ( Tenure Track) position with an anticipated starting date of August 16, 2023. Candidates should have experience and expertise in teacher education, elementary education, and/or middle level education. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in our initial licensure and advanced programs. The successful candidate will be expected to mentor student research, support our efforts to maintain CAEP accreditation, and further our mission of developing life-long learners and strong advocates. Candidates must be committed to teaching excellence, a clinical approach to teacher education, and serving individuals from diverse backgrounds using an assets-based viewpoint. We seek candidates with a commitment to working effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds as well as individuals with all intersections of identity. In their application, candidates should demonstrate their record of successful teaching in higher education and for building equitable and inclusive learning spaces at all levels.
Responsibilities
  • Teaching and curriculum development in undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs (5 courses per year);
  • Maintaining a strong research program and publishing in peer-reviewed journals, while striving to build and/or maintain an externally fundable/funded research program;
  • Engaging in service to the college, department, program, and profession; and
  • Collaborating with colleagues, school-based and community partners to engage in outreach and maintain academic excellence at all levels.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or a related field
  • Successful teaching experience in higher education
  • Experience and expertise in teacher education, elementary education, and/or middle level education
  • A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in public K-12 settings
  • An established record of scholarship commensurate with the rank of Associate Professor
  • Experience with multi-year externally funded grants

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching action research courses
  • Experience teaching methods courses
  • Experience teaching diversity courses
  • Experience mentoring and coaching teachers and future teachers
  • Experience with outreach and professional development
