AB-PCI Overview
AB Private Credit Investors (“AB-PCI”) is the $13B+ private corporate credit investing platform of Alliance Bernstein (“AB”) offering direct lending capabilities to middle-market companies across various industry sectors.
AB-PCI focuses on directly sourced and privately negotiated investments in the primary issue market. AB-PCI pursues a flexible mandate designed to deliver attractive risk-adjusted returns by investing in unitranche, first lien, and second lien debt as well as selectively structured preferred stock and private equity co-investments. Target companies typically have robust business models, strong competitive positions, sustainable enterprise value, and predictable cash flow profiles. The group maintains a strong credit culture and pursues a highly selective investment process based on fundamental due diligence and a focus on transaction terms and documentation.
Associate Role Overview
AB-PCI is looking for an Associate to work as part of the investment team. As an Associate at AB-PCI you will work in small deal teams (usually 2 to 3, with 1-2 senior deal team members) on all aspects of credit investing. This provides an attractive opportunity for high caliber individuals to interact directly with senior team members as well as private equity investors, company management, sell-side banks, lawyers, accountants, and other business professionals, as well as to be part of a growing platform and assume significant levels of responsibility over time. Your main duties will include:

Investment. Play a key role in the selection, execution, and management of investments. Candidates must exhibit the capability to master all aspects of executing a transaction, including but not limited to business due diligence, financial analysis/modeling, industry research, preparation of investment memoranda and other written materials, and interacting with financial sponsors and management teams.

This is a 3-year position with robust opportunities for advancement in the growing platform for top performers. The position requires the candidate to be willing to relocate to Austin, TX (note that the current culture of the firm is to work in office 3 days per week).
Associate Candidate Qualifications

Education. Bachelor’s degree demonstrating superior academic performance, preferably in Finance, Business, Accounting, or Economics. MS Finance, MBA, and/or CFA a plus.

Experience. Top performer with one to three years prior relevant work experience in one of the following roles: (i) Leveraged Finance Investment Banking, (ii) Financial Sponsor Coverage Investment Banking, (iii) M&A Investment Banking, and (iv) Private Credit or Private Equity investing. Top performers from adjacent roles in valuation, financial consulting, and restructuring will be considered.

Quantitative/Problem Solving. Strong grounding in accounting, finance, and capital markets. Mastery of three-statement financial modeling and analysis.

Work Quality/Productivity. Experience writing high-quality, accurate investment memos, credit memos, or similar work products. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple assignments under pressure well. Prioritizes tasks and is well organized.

Teamwork. Ability to work cooperatively in fast-paced environment with team members.

Initiative/Work Ethic: Self-starter. Takes ownership of projects and drives the process but also knows when to ask for help. Requires minimal supervision.
