The Associate Portfolio Manager position is a senior-level position providing day-to-day support to the Portfolio Managers as part of the Credit Monitoring Team. The Associate Portfolio Manager will be responsible for performing complex financial analysis, regularly communicating with several internal and external parties regarding the underlying portfolio investments, as well as supervising and mentoring junior team members. The Associate Portfolio Manager will also be responsible for monitoring portfolio company performance and using the Firm’s proprietary software tools to generate monthly and quarterly reports. The Associate Portfolio Manager will be expected to have a depth of investment experience to understand how overall economic conditions may impact the portfolio and its individual investments and be quick to address challenges. Qualified candidates must have finance or accounting experience, with exposure to valuation methods being very desirable (e.g., use of publicly traded comparable multiples, discounted cash flow modelling and debt pricing).

Responsibilities include:

− Performing complex financial analysis

− Monitoring portfolio company performance and using the Firm’s proprietary software tools to generate monthly and quarterly reports

− Regularly communicating with several internal and external parties regarding the underlying portfolio investments

− Supervising and mentoring junior team members

Additional responsibilities include:

− Shadowing and gaining a deep understanding off all applications, documents, processes and procedures from Portfolio Managers.

− Refining management skills, knowledge of and experience with corporate loan investments and valuating illiquid corporate debt and equities (e.g., use of valuation methodologies including publicly traded comparable company data, equity waterfalls, cash flow modelling and debt pricing) through observation, study and direct application.

− Observing and eventually participating in the GCIM Investment Committee. The GCIM Investment Committee is responsible for reviewing and approving new investments by Golub Capital offshore funds, transfers of investments between fund entities and amendments to existing investments. It generally meets monthly to perform its functions. The Portfolio Managers oversee the preparation of material and analyses needed and lead these meetings.

− Assisting in the management of the Credit Monitoring Team in St. Thomas. The Credit Monitoring Team currently consists of 16 professionals who each quarter value debt and equity investments in over 300 primarily U.S-based, middle-market companies. The team presently is organized into four industry verticals, in each case headed by a talented industry vertical head. Supporting the Portfolio Managers in all management responsibilities including, but not limited to: recruiting, onboarding and training, performance management, process improvement, quality control and working with third-party valuation firms including Duff & Phelps, Murray Devine and Houlihan Lokey.

− Observing and eventually serving on the Golub Capital Watchlist Committee. The Watchlist Committee reviews underperforming loans and assesses strategies for addressing such loans.

− Providing support in valuing difficult-to-value loans and equities, determining the most appropriate approach and generating insights from financial information.

− Assisting the Portfolio Managers with responses to complex requests and questions from senior individuals in other departments at Golub Capital LLC (e.g., Investor Reporting, Treasury and Fund Accounting) and other external parties (e.g., valuation firms, auditors, regulators) regarding documentation (e.g., memos, financial statements, legal documents, internal valuations).

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

− Demonstrated team leadership and / or management experience

− Bachelor’s degree required (accounting or finance preferred but not required)

− MBA degree is preferred, but not required

− CFA credential is a plus, but not required

− 15+ years of relevant work experience in leveraged finance, private credit, valuation services, private equity, and / or investment banking

− Position is located in St. Thomas, USVI

− Strong quantitative skills

− In-depth understanding of financial statements
