Associate Color & Fabric Testing Specialist Job at Lands' End
As the Color & Fabric Testing Specialist you are responsible for executing the Lands’ End color and fabric operations processes through analytical evaluations focused on securing color approvals and fabric testing approvals, while maintaining Lands’ End design vision and all business requirements. Color approvals include lab dips, strike-offs, and bulk production lots across all business categories, ensuring color accuracy, consistency, and continuity within and across products. Fabric testing approvals include development and bulk fabric testing stages to ensure fabrics meet all performance and claimed requirements per Lands’ End quality protocols.
- Assess color submissions instrumentally and visually per the Lands’ End Color SOP, ensuring color approvals are within acceptable tolerance to LE color standards.
- Communicate color approval status and any corrective color comments using Natific ASAP color system.
- Resolve color issues by providing analysis and recommendations to mills/vendors to drive improvement.
- Manage the Team Review color approval process for your categories with cross-functional partners to align on business decisions for color submissions not meeting standard because of technical or time limitations.
- Support the Lands’ End Color Accreditation Program by pulling relevant metrics/KPIs from Natific ASAP and Color Warehouse to help advance the success of the program by illustrating benefits and discovering any challenges with the program.
- Drive fabric testing at development and bulk fabric stages through to completion by communicating testing requirements to mills, reviewing and logging test reports, and tracking progress.
- Resolve testing failures and help develop improved global process for recording/tracking/communicating failure resolutions in partnership with 3rd party testing lab, PLM system, and cross-functional partners.
- Educate mills/vendors and cross-functional partners in Color and Testing SOPs, processes, and requirements to improve efficiencies and product quality.
- B.S. Degree in Textiles or similar.
- 2+ years related experience in color approval process and textile testing.
- Experience using color software and spectrophotometer, for example Datacolor, X-Rite, Natific QCExpress, etc.
- Familiarity with Natific ASAP, BV OneSource, and PLM systems (Flex or Centric), a plus.
- Understanding of dyeing, printing, and product development processes.
- Understanding of textiles: weaves, knits, washes, denim, yarns.
- Understanding of fabric testing and fabric test ratings, for example AATCC and ASTM test methods.
- Process- and solution-minded, with the ability to collaborate to drive efficiencies.
- Analytically minded; able to analyze data to answer business questions as needed.
- Ability to drive calendar dates and deliverables.
