Brief Summary of Job Description
Tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank beginning Fall 2023. Successful candidate will teach entry and advanced-level undergraduate courses in the area of corrections. This position is for a generalist, and preference may be given to those applicants with professional experience in the criminal justice field. Duties fall into three categories: teaching, research, and service. Must be able to teach both in face-to-face and online environments. Content areas include but are not limited to Corrections with a focus on practical application to the criminal justice field or other classes as determined by department need. The successful candidate is also expected to maintain a scholarly research program that generates high quality research products. Finally, all faculty are expected to engage in service to the Department/College/University, which includes serving as an advisor to criminal justice majors. The position is housed in the Department of Criminal Justice on the Kearney campus, where there are four other full-time faculty assigned. The University of Nebraska at Kearney campus is located in Kearney, Nebraska with a population of about 30,000. The campus has an enrollment of 6000 students.
Job Duties
Successful candidate will teach entry and advanced-level undergraduate courses with a 3-3 load. This position is focused on criminal law and procedure. Faculty are expected to maintain a scholarly research program that generates high quality research products. All faculty are expected to engage in service to the Department/College/University, which includes serving as an advisor to criminal justice majors.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or a terminal degree in a closely related field required. Candidates who are ABD will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior teaching experience, evidence of active research in scholarship, and evidence of teaching excellence.
