Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at the J ohns Hopkins Hospita l is a 24-bed Intensive Care Unit specializing in the care of a high acuity patient population with complex medical diagnoses. The majority of our diagnoses include, but are not limited to: end stage renal & hepatic disease, multisystem organ failure, newly diagnosed or existing autoimmune & pulmonary disorders, the critically ill antepartum/ postpartum patient, the critically ill oncology patient.

Dependent Child Tuition - Payment for up to 50% of child's tuition and eligible mandatory academic fees at an accredited, degree-granting institution

Qualifications :
BSN from an accredited nursing program required .
Active Maryland or Compact RN license is required
Requires 5 years of experience as registered nurse (within the specialty preferred), including 3 years with leadership and/or supervisory responsibilities.
The Assistant Manager is responsible for:
Operations of the unit: Such as staffing, personnel management, environmental monitoring, and performance improvement.
Handle short-term problems, mentor and manage others to promote quality, safety, and excellence in clinical care.
Promote and identify quality improvement initiatives that align with departmental and organizational safety and operational goals.
Must be able to identify methods to promote cost-effective use of resources.
Work collaboratively with, and provides leadership for, a multidisciplinary healthcare team to optimize team performance and patient outcomes.
This position communicates and works regularly with the Nurse Manger so that the Nurse Manager can be aware of trends for longer-term problem-solving. May assume unit management functions as designated.

Effective use of written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills within the interdisciplinary care environment.
Able to motivate others as individuals and as a group.
Plan, organize, and direct the activities of others.
Ability to appropriately confront issues and problem-solve.

Regulatory standards
Revenue and expense components of the unit budget
Personnel processes including staff vacancies, personnel, policies, and performance review processes
