Role Overview
Under general supervision of Head Teller, assists with the supervision, coordination and scheduling of activities of employees engaged in teller functions. Helps train new employees in proper procedures and helps handle difficult operational questions from tellers. Helps review out-of-balance conditions at daily closing and reconciles teller cash drawers as required. Assists in handling complex member transaction problems. Also performs Teller duties. Provides working leadership and guidance to tellers.
Day-to-Day
- Assists the Head Teller with processing of return items from other financial institutions.
- Assists the Head Teller with monitoring over short report monthly, daily work on a weekly basis, microfilming of all work regularly. Responsible for maintenance of all equipment.
- Assist the Head Teller with conducting security checks, and testing alarms.
- Assists the Head Teller in searching records to assist subordinates in locating and reconciling posting errors on members’ accounts to verify accuracy of transactions.
- Examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
- Maintains harmony among workers and resolve grievances.
- Adjusts errors and complaints.
- Orders cash, supplies cash as needed, and removes cash to vault treasury to reduce drawer limits when appropriate. Balances vault daily.
- Train Tellers in practices and procedures including: hold-ups and robbery, regulatory compliance (i.e. Regulation CC) and credit union philosophy.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus one to three years related experience and/or training in a full service financial institution.
