Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Assistant Director for Facilities Services, at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) Lake Tahoe campus. This position will directly oversee the facilities operations for the UNR at Lake Tahoe campus including the Tahoe Center of Environmental Sciences (TCES).
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Plan, organize and direct buildings and grounds maintenance, repairs, custodial work, security functions, fleet maintenance and capital improvements;

Inspect and survey facilities, identify maintenance and construction deficiencies in structures, fixtures, landscaping, and all electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR);

Develop program goals and objectives to comply with the policies and procedures and improve the overall efficiency of facility operations;

Diagnose system failure and equipment malfunctions using a variety of methods;
-
Review structural blueprints, mechanical schematics, construction codes, fire codes and safety procedures in order to identify and solve problems arising in the course of work;

Estimate material, supply and equipment costs for scheduled maintenance and construction projects;
-
Oversee projects that involve deferred maintenance, remodeling, construction, etc.;

Maintain records, procure inventories, justify expenditures, and perform administrative work;
-
Contact outside contractors and commercial vendors for estimates in order to make budget projections, adhere to budget constraints, and plan and schedule work;

Manage the daily work assignments of direct reports, prioritizing safety, environmental protection, property damage potential, and other factors;
-
Coordinate, schedule and inspect work of staff or contractors, to ensure proper quality control and compliance with all federal, state, county laws, codes and standards, as well as university standards and practices.

Train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff;

Interact with external agencies and community members, representing the campus and university with the highest standards of conduct;

Attend campus meetings, coordinate with campus leadership and other departments, in order to support the mission of the campus and the university;

Attend all TCES Stakeholder meetings, reporting on building maintenance, repair, custodial and security system status, and accepting assignments for these functions; and
-
Other duties as assigned.
This position reports to the Director for Satellite Campus Facilities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of related professional work experience; OR
Master’s Degree and two (2) years of related professional work experience
Related Experience: Progressively responsible experience in facilities maintenance, management, operations, or related field within a complex organization.
A valid Class “C” driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required within 30 days of appointment.
LIST PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position has a physical exertion rating of Medium work. Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Medium work requires walking or standing to a significant degree and pushing and/or pulling.

Schedule and Travel Requirements
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Occasional travel may be required.
This position is designated as Essential Personnel. In the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure to maintain campus safety or building operations, this position will be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours.

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees
