Assistant Director of Admissions Job at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine
JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of Admissions - Erie is responsible for assisting the Director of Student Affairs in the overall administration and management of admissions for the Erie campus. The Assistant Director will also advise prospective students for admission to LECOM, oversee the collection / processing of all application documents and materials, and serve as a training resource for Erie, Elmira, and Seton Hill Admissions Representatives.
CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote and preserve the mission of LECOM;
- Maintain confidentiality, professional appearance and pleasant demeanor;
- Respond to various communication inquiries regarding the admissions process;
- Act as an administrative and departmental representative with faculty, staff, students and visitors in a professional, friendly manner at all times;
- Responsible for ensuring student compliance with institutional policies and regulation;
- Process all applications and matriculation fees;
- Assist in the processing of AACOMAS application information, supplemental applications, and supporting documentation;
- Coordinate collection of information for the students in the LECOM Early Acceptance Program (EAP), to include collecting official SAT and/or ACT scores; verifying official transcripts, and printing, saving, and organizing documents prior to matriculation;
- Coordinate and update written agreements between LECOM and undergraduate institutions;
- Prepare and present virtual presentations to colleges and universities to exhibit LECOM programs;
- Assist College of Medicine personnel with incoming class coordination and special events;
- Update various applicant files and notify students of application status;
- Assist with the planning and implementation of on-campus events related to admissions: On-Campus Day, LECOM events, orientation, etc.;
- Schedule and conduct campus tours;
- Participate in the Applicant Interview process, including greeting applicants, assisting with presentations, etc.;
- Assist Admissions Committee on recording of decisions and informing applicants of post interview decisions;
- Assist in processing all applications for the Institutional Programs as needed;
- Keep current accurate records of accepted applicants entering in new class, including all demographics;
- Participate in and assist with the coordination of various annual college events: Commencement, White Coat Ceremony, On-Campus Day, Orientation and Open Houses;
- Represent the Institution at recruitment events, professional conferences, and meetings;
- Support Admissions Representatives in all Programs;
- Assist incoming students with Matriculation Packet, and assure its completion;
- Serve as back-up support to College Receptionist, on an as needed basis;
- Serve as Student Affairs support service for enrolled students;
- Contribute directly to the Mission of LECOM embodying the essence of Osteopathic Principles and Practices by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction;
- Participate in scholarly activity so to enrich and broaden the student learning experience;
- Commit to being a representative of LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including, but not limited to, serving on Boards, participating in community fundraisers and overall outreach; and
- Accept other duties assigned/needed for the Institution’s needs.

- Ability to be trained and certified on the Institutional Data System;
- Effective use of interpersonal and communications skills, including tact and diplomacy;
- Effective use of organizational and planning skills, including attention to detail and follow-through;
- Time management skills in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands;
- Willingness to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and experience equivalent to: Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two to five (2-5) years of employment experience at a postsecondary educational institution. In addition, the successful candidate must have extensive administration experience in admissions.
