RES is looking for an Assistant Controller based out of our Houston, TX office.

The mission: Assist in the leadership of the accounting department and reporting within a fast-growing, purpose-driven organization with nearly 1,000 employees and offices across the United States, while leading a team of over 25 accounting professionals.

This position entails working closely with the regional and corporate management teams, project managers, independent auditors, and legal and sales teams in performing the duties outlined below.

What your day-to-day might look like?

Your main task will be keeping the company's financial systems running smoothly, including:

• Overseeing the preparation of internal financial statements and management reports.
• Review monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
• Overseeing the posting of accounting transactions for multiple legal and management entities, including the management of accounts payable and accounts receivable.

You will also manage and review the posting of labor expenses and maintain a database of ongoing projects in the general ledger and timekeeping systems. You will also play a critical role in the financial audit process by working with external auditors and assisting with tax preparation.

To help with the company's financial planning, you will assist in the preparation of cost forecasts and perform revenue recognition calculations. As part of the management team, you will interact with the Corporate FP&A team to provide support for planning initiatives through financial reports, information analysis, and recommendations. You will participate in financial systems team meetings and activities, as needed, to stay up to date with the latest financial systems and trends.

Finally, you will play an important leadership role on the Corporate Accounting team. You will be responsible for managing and developing 25+ staff and ensuring that they have the necessary resources and training to perform their jobs effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 7+ years of work experience in accounting or financial roles.
• Experience managing extended teams in matrix environments and across several geographies.
• Experience in project-based industries, such as O&G, construction, energy, engineering, or consulting.
• Superior Microsoft Office skills.

• MBA or master’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Experience in a Big 4.
• CPA.
• Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and percent of completion revenue recognition standards.
• Experience with NetSuite.
• Experience in PE-based companies.
• Experience in M&A-extensive organizations.
