Assistant Athletic Coordinator - Specialist Counselor
Timber Lake Camp takes the job of coaching and caring for children seriously. We are looking for top-quality summer camp counselors and specialty staff who will take this job as seriously as we do. As our Assistant Athletic Coordinator, you will still enjoy the traditional summer camp counselor experience of living in a bunk with 2-3 counselors and 8-10 campers, along with eating meals together and taking part in camp-wide activities.
During the five periods of every day, however, you will have you will be refeering a variety of sports as a part of our leagues program, and working with the Head Counselor and Athletic Director on our leagues, standings and scheduling. You will be provided with all the equipment you'll need, along with a rulebook binder that outlines the specific rules for each sport, and our guidelines for fairplay and proper conduct.
Being a great Athletic Coordinator is about upholding the values of Timber Lake, and ensuring that games are running smoothly, on-time, and that our coaches are following our even-playing time guidelines.
As a referee at Timber Lake, you'll be asked to work in one the following sports:
Basketball, Flag Football, Baseball (Coach Pitch and Kid Pitch), Roller Hockey, and Soccer.
As with any role at camp, having a desire to work with kids is a must. Experience is a plus, but not a necessity.
If you haven't worked at a summer camp before, please be aware of the commitment you're signing up for. It's an incredible, unforgettable experience, but it is far from a typical 9-5 job -- in the best way possible.
Location: Shandaken, New York.
Dates: June 17th until August 13th (one-week staff orientation included).
Salary: $3000 USD for the summer, with up to $600 USD in performance-based bonuses.
Days-Off: One day off a week (all specialists get Wednesday off).
Nights-Off: Four nights off a week. You can opt-in for a bus system that takes our counselors to nearby establishments from 9:30 pm -> 11:50 pm every night.
Room and Board: Meals and lodging are provided ALL summer.
Transportation: Shuttle provided from Newark Airport if flying in, shuttle to nearby bus station/town provided on days off. You are welcome to drive and park at camp.
