POSITION DETAILS
Position Summary
Plan, layout, and perform fitting to erect rotating elements or other products. Set up and operate machines and equipment to perform various drilling, splining, and honing for fitting and assembly of rotating elements.
Principal Activities
- Perform several specialized functions including cutting splines in gears and/or honing. Set-up and operate machines for the various operations, select proper tooling and arbors to perform appropriate operations to bring items to specified close tolerances. Use precision measuring devices to check parts.
- Fit, file, and prepare pump parts and sub-assemblies for erection and ensure proper fit and movement of parts.
- Work with parts such as bearings, brackets, shafts, gears, etc. Assemble rotating element with cognizance for clearance, rough and finish timing, fits, and complete product requirements. Use a variety of hand and air driven tools.
- Make and fit necessary bearings to shaft as required. Check for binds, clearance, end play, mesh of gears, etc. Keep careful check as assembly progresses. Ensure parts and assemblies are free of chips and burrs.
- Remove burrs on all machined parts.
- Detect and report defective materials and faulty operations to proper supervisor. Follow all safety rules, procedures and practices. Maintain work area in clean and orderly manner.
- Record labor times and other related data on standard forms.
- Record all required data on Process Control Sheets including finished dimensions checked, measuring instruments used, serial numbers, etc.
Job Requirements:
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Must have 3-5 years of assembly or mechanic experience.
- Must be able to read blueprints, and read and understand gages.
- Must be familiar with micrometers, verniers and indicators.
- Must have demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Must be a self-starter, be dependable, and have excellent organizational skills.
- Basic hand tool knowledge, drill, grinding, press and rigging experience is a plus.
- Hydraulic experience is a plus.
- The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- U.S. Citizen is required for DOD requirements.
Education & Experience
Must have HS diploma or GED equivalent
