SUMMARY
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the entry-level position of Assembler I, assembles, tests, reworks, and inspects electronic components, sub-assemblies, and products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), SDS (Safety Data Sheets), Company Policies, and Department Standard Operating Procedures
- Follows industry standards for ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) and MSL (Moisture Sensitivity Level) protection while handling electronic components and/or assemblies
- Positions, aligns, and solders metal shields in a specified relationship to each other on printed circuit boards
- Performs soldering rework, that meets applicable standards, on surface mount components such as resistors, capacitors, transistors, integrated circuits, and connectors on printed circuit boards
- Crimps, screws, rivets, solders, cements, press fits, and performs similar operations, to build assemblies using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment
- Attaches hardware such as caps, cables, labels, and properly torqued connector nuts to assemblies
- Performs intermediate assembly tasks such as sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, and curing parts and assemblies
- Routes and connects small wires and cables between circuit boards and product panel connectors
- Precision cuts materials to specified dimensions
- Properly installs material according to layout diagrams
- Performs temperature chamber testing by loading and unloading products in temperature chamber, running software automated testing of products, ensuring products pass automated testing, and reporting results of specific products that fail automated testing
- Performs assembly operations using magnifying device or under a microscope
- Packs finished assemblies in product boxes along with all the associated standard items
- Accurately completes inspection checklists
- Performs data entry tasks
- Performs production and customer calibrations using the 26 GHz calibrationstation
- Assures that parts and subassemblies meet exacting tolerances and Quality Standards
- Follows daily work plan as assigned
- Works from and interprets drawings, work instructions, photos, pick lists
- Understands and observe proper care of electronic test equipment, cables, and connectors
- Safely works with chemicals such as solder flux, 2-part epoxy, Isopropyl Alcohol, and Acetone
- Performs other incidental duties: general work area housekeeping, attend trainings, attend meetings, perform special assignments, perform miscellaneous tasks, perform any other duties as assigned by Production Supervisor or Chief Operating Officer
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school education or General Education Diploma required. Two years of related experience preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access) desired.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, and occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to use magnification equipment for extended periods of time, as well as safely use soldering and rework equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is a combined warehouse/production facility, with most tasks taking place in a heated and/or air-conditioned indoor environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
