Art Therapist, FT or PT
Summary
A dynamic, internally motivated professional clinician, who provides individual and group counseling services, completes and provides assessments, psycho-educational groups, trainings, progress notes and continuing care planning services. Oversees the emotional and behavioral well-being of struggling individuals by developing and implementing an ancillary individualized therapeutic plan for each patient, along with encouraging pro-social interactions and behaviors for community integration. The Clinical Specialist participates as a member of a multidisciplinary team within the comprehensive clinical program, provides individual therapy, group and family therapy, documents services in the clinical record, engages in interdependent care coordinator, and documents service outcomes.
Requirements
Knowledge of addiction, behavioral health, gathering and interpreting information about dependence, the natural history of dependence, as well as the bio-psychosocial influences and effects of dependencies is required. Understanding the range of treatments needed, the range of treatments available as well as the appropriate use of therapeutic interventions. The ability to work in a supportive, caring and non-judgmental environment with staff and patients. The ability to function calmly in crisis situations. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff members, patients, outside agencies, families and members of the community. The ability to confer with other professional members of the treatment team in order to develop, coordinate, and integrate treatment plans.
A Bachelors Degree or above from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in human services) or other related field which includes a practicum in a health or human services agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. If the practicum did not take place in a drug and alcohol setting, the individual’s written training plan will specifically address a plan to achieve counseling competency in chemical dependency issues.
Preferred - licensed in art therapy.
