Deer Mountain is looking for a Arts teacher with experience working with elementary and middle school aged students join our fine arts team and working our general arts area. The curriculum includes basic art & crafts projects such paper scultures, papermache, decoupage, watercolor painting, shading, texture. We also offer lanyard, jewelry making, and sewing. In Upper Camp we also develop a series of studio art offerings like charcoal drawing, still life painting, 3D art and print making to name a few.

Basic Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with our program coordinator to finalize a project list.
• Help generate a supply order.
• Set up the crafts area and lead craft sessions for 12 to 15 campers at a time.
• Communicate with and direct group counselors visiting your activity

Camp Dates:

• 2023 Camp Dates: Monday, June 26th to Friday, August 18th
• Monday to Friday: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
• Some pre-season training and curriculum planning required
• Daily lunch and snacks provided

Requirements:

• Post-college candidate. Minimum of 2 years teaching experience preferred.
• Able to instruct in several art disciplines, including but not limited to painting, drawing, general arts & crafts, and sculpture.
• Fun, kind, caring and motivating personality.

Deer Mountain Day Camp is located in Pomona, NY at the base of the Ramapo Mountains. We have a 25 acre campus that features a stream fed lake, 5 pools, 4 tennis courts, zip lines, aerial adventure elements, 3 softball fields, two soccer fields, a football field, full size hockey rink and 25 indoor buildings that serve as camper bunks and home to our arts and stem programs. We are a town away from Woodcliff Lake, Mahwah, Montvale and Suffern and 25 minutes from the George Washington Bridge. We serve campers ranging in age from 3 to 15 who come from Rockland, Bergen, Orange and Westchester Counties and New York City.

Deer Mountain staff members come from all the different areas we serve. Our team is full of fun, creative and kind educators, sports coaches, artists and camp professionals who love the impact that a summer camp can have on adults and children. You will love coming to camp each day.

Pay: $528.00 - $650.00 per week
