Job Summary


The Animal Caretaker in Department of Psychological Science at Georgia College will assist in the following tasks:

Daily care and health checks of animals housed in the Department of Psychological Science research facilities.

Weekly cleaning of the lab facilities (e.g., mop, sweep, take out trash).

Cleaning and changing of animal housing as needed.

Other duties related to the health and safety of animals as assigned.

Responsibilities


Daily care and health checks of animals - 75%

Will visit the lab and assess health of animals in the lab. This may include providing food and/or non-scheduled changing of living space.

Cleaning animal housing - 15%
Providing clean living space for animals at regular intervals throughout the week.

Cleaning lab facilities - 10%
Mopping, sweeping, taking out trash, washing housing enclosures, and other cleaning tasks as necessary.


Required Qualifications


Educational Requirements
Georgia College student; Psychology major

Other Required Qualifications
Task oriented, organized, strong oral and written communication.

Required Experience
Psychology major who is (or will be) enrolled in a PSYC2999, 3999, or 4999 research lab with Dr. Dandy or Dr. Isaac.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


ABILITIES
Ability to work independently and follow instructions.

KNOWLEDGE
Ethical care and use of non-human animals in research

SKILLS
Effective time management, basic PowerPoint/Excel, ability to engage in light cleaning tasks (e.g., sweep/mop)
