The Analyst – Billing & Collections is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and conducting invoicing and collections activities for accounts in a manner that comply with internal and external policies/regulations. The position creates workflows to support new and evolving business lines. Typical activities include and are not limited to; staying up to date with various state and federal regulations and statutes, reporting, collection campaigns, and assisting other departments with financial account requests. The role is essential to training and providing input on new employees. This position provides superior internal and external customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and perform invoicing and collections workflows to ensure daily, weekly, and monthly goals are met within established service level agreements.
- Build related workflows to support current and future needs of the organization.
- Provide management with updates on any federal or state regulatory or statute changes that impact department activities and recommend policy updates as needed.
- Create and conduct training on regulatory updates and best-practices for customer service.
- Create, evaluate, and revise collections scripts and emails to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
- Assists with various financial, Sarbanes-Oxley, and other internal audits and ensure compliance is preserved within daily processing.
- Interact with third parties or Legal Counsel on any disputes.
- Review and update routine reports and information systems with accurate notes for collections activities and analytics.
- Continuously evaluate systems and recommend internal improvements or integrations with external platforms.
- Research and resolve disputes with accuracy and timeliness and process holds on collections activities based on external factors such as bankruptcies.
- Contact and respond to students and third parties through various avenues to collect on delinquent account balances and prepare accounts for outside collections as needed and handle escalations.
- Responds to inquiries from internal and external customers via phone and email.
- Assists with research and clean up on past due invoices, payment applications, and refunds.
- Collaborate with Business Office teams to develop and implement process improvements.
- Special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- Ability to understand and implement policies and procedures.
- Ability to solve problems and provide analytics in an ever changing environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, understanding finance, and technology terminology.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years work experience in business to consumer collections, accounts receivable, or other related fields.
- Experience with collections-related regulations (FDCPA, Dodd-Frank (UDAAP), TILA, and others).
