The Ames National Laboratory is seeking candidates for the position of Research Technologist III within the Division of Materials Science and Engineering.
The Research Technologist III will provide advanced expertise for current and new research into strongly correlated electron systems, unconventional superconductors, and quantum materials. Duties of the position will include research spanning high-temperature superconductors and related compounds, magnetically ordered materials, and quantum spin systems by utilizing an experimental technique of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) /Nuclear Quadruple Resonance (NQR). The successful candidate will coordinate the efforts with the group leader (supervisor) and collaborate with other researchers in the Division of Materials Science and Engineering; day-to-day supervision of undergraduate, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers; design, plan, and execute advanced measurement protocols involving NMR; perform the experiments; collect and interpret the experimental results; produce research reports; present results at professional national and international meetings; prepare manuscripts for publication; report work progress and results to the group leader and to the Field Work Proposal (FWP) Leader. The successful candidate should be able to interact with experienced experimental and theoretical scientists, and working within the group is important to success in this position.
