The Air Product Pricing Desk Specialist will be an essential part of a central pricing team which will cover the entire U.S. The Specialist will collaborate with the Air organization and use their understanding of the U.S. Air market to provide our VIP customers with pricing for their air export and import shipments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages pricing (spot quotations and RFQs) for larger customers that fall into Hellmann’s A, B, and C classification.
  • Administers inland portion of quotation with domestic trucking team.
  • Administers inland and accessorial charges with USA product management, inland management, and overseas offices/contacts.
  • Collaborates with Local Product Manager to secure analysis of operational complexity & related workload to determine operational costs for proposed solution & ensure well-defined scope of services is included in bid
  • Suggests, proposes, and implements alternative competitive opportunities to commercial or internal clients.
  • Negotiates with carriers and/or local procurement team to obtain best cost for spot quotes and RFQs within service parameters.
  • Validates adherence to standards and tiered pricing instructions.
  • Adjusts pricing for development of focused trade-lanes.
  • Provides pricing for RFQs that are validated by the product and sales team.
  • Assembles and publishes selling quote to customer or overseas office in standardized format.
  • Implements global, regional and trade lane Airfreight commercial strategies & carrier policies
  • Follows up with internal and external clients on provided quotes with the goal to secure the business.
  • Publishes RFQ information, including carrier, contract #, routing, buy-sell overview, and scope of services to Product Customer Service, Product Operations & Account Management prior to movement of first shipment
  • Analyzes success ratio on spot quotes to A, B, C customers and RFQs and reports to management.
  • Publishes RFQ and spot shipment routings and estimated profitability analysis to management.
  • Supports sales in providing adequate solutions, routing proposals, and pricing for prioritized opportunities.
  • Guides requestor and provides alternative solutions if not possible to satisfy request due to limitations on inland or air capacities or regulatory issues.
  • Constructs and utilizes information from prior successful RFQs and spot quotations to efficiently respond to similar request scenarios.
  • Acts as resource for transactional pricing desk members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirement
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5 -10 years international air freight operations with export and import knowledge.
  • 3 years RFQ experience
  • Significant pricing & procurement experience
  • Gateway management a plus
  • Prior experience on pricing of multi lane multinational RFQ
  • Extensive carrier relationships
  • Understanding of US trucking market
  • Prior experience with multiple origins, overall USA pricing and procurement on all trade-lanes.

  • Proficient in world geography, export documentation, and Incoterms.
  • Ability to analyze scope of service and determine corresponding operational costs
  • Basic knowledge of dangerous goods, hazmat certified a plus
  • Knowledge of various aircraft space, weight and size limitations
  • Knowledge of regulatory environment affecting air shipments
  • Procurement experience a plus
