This position will provide overall, high-level program and administrative leadership, direction, management and coordination of all Agriculture, Horticulture and Environmental educational programming. This position will provide overall leadership for the application of subject matter expertise to develop educational strategies for assigned areas of programming; provide leadership and direction for the management of the Agriculture, Horticulture and Environmental Area resources and staff; develop program evaluation tools and provide leadership for program assessment and analysis in assigned program areas; and collaborate in applied research with Cornell University and other Land Grant University faculty as defined. This position will ensure that the Agriculture, Horticulture and Environmental educational programs reflect the diversity of people in Broome County and other areas of the state as appropriate, and that they conform to the objectives and mission of Cornell Cooperative Extension and this Association. This position will maintain external relationships with various agriculture agencies within our community and will coordinate the Agriculture Taskforce.
Required Qualifications:
Specify required minimumequivalency for education, experience, skills, information systems knowledge, etc.
· Master’s Degree with Bachelor’s Degree in agricultural study.
· Four (4) years related experience. PhD may substitute for two (2) years of experience.
· Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
· Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.
· Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications:
Specify preferred specialized education, field and/or certifications.
- Six (6) years as a Cooperative Extension educator or equivalent professional experience in teaching or education in an academic or business setting.
- Additional training in animal science production, agricultural engineering, or adult education.
· Agricultural background, agri-business or farm experience, computer education and /or computer experience.
· Experience with administrative tasks, including coordinating events.
· Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
· Demonstrated ability to plan, teach and evaluate informal educational programs through a variety of delivery methods to reach individuals and groups.
· Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse audiences.
· Demonstrated ability to work with youth and adults, including volunteers.
· Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through oral, written and visual means.
· Demonstrated ability to utilize computer technologies for educational and communication purposes.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $65,000.00 per year
