Provides technical and scientific support for the horticulture research and Extension program at Edisto Research and Education Center. Manages horticulture-related research projects and demonstrations. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:


40% - Essential - Project Management: Plans and conducts research and demonstration projects for horticulture or other rotational crops. Plants, maintains, harvests, and terminates research and demonstration plots.

15% - Essential - Greenhouse Management: Maintains greenhouse and all equipment necessary for greenhouse operation. Coordinate's planting and maintenance of greenhouse plant material and experiments.

15% - Essential - Laboratory Management: Maintains laboratory and all equipment and instruments. Assists and trains students and other workers in laboratory procedures.

20% - Essential - Equipment: Operate and maintain all field equipment needed for establishment, maintenance, harvesting and termination of research and demonstration plots.

10% - Essential - Data Management and Analysis: Collect, organize, and analyze data from field and greenhouse experiments.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


Education - Bachelor's Degree in horticulture, agriculture, or related field and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. Work experience that is directly related to the area of employment may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:


Education - Master's Degree in horticulture, plant and environmental science, agriculture, or related field.
