Job Description
The Underwriting Delivery and Enablement (UD&E) organization currently has an exciting opportunity supporting our Supplemental Health Underwriting teammates. The UD&E Supplemental Health Agile Product Owner is a key role responsible for the delivery of business automation. They represent the “voice of the customer” for the business area they represent. They understand their business area’s process and collect and prioritize technology requirements. This role is directly aligned to VERA, the Supplemental Health quotation system.
The Product Owner works with Supplemental Health Underwriting, Pricing, and Product leadership to ensure that the VERA delivery team is working priorities that maximize business value for our stakeholders, clients and customers. Strong business skills and experience are a must, including past experience either working with Supplemental Health Underwriting or time spent working on delivery with Agile technology teams.
We are looking for someone who can identify, understand, drive, and manage change.
The Agile Product Owner will be 100% allocated to this role.

Key Duties:
- Understands key business objectives and strategy of the product (s) they support
- Works to uncover information independently; must be able to hit the ground running
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Able to work collaboratively to articulate a solution and implementation plan
- Ability to communicate effectively across varied audiences (Technical, Business, Leaders, Individual Contributors)
- Maintains and refines the inflow of work to the team (product backlog)
- Assists the team with decomposing features into user stories and acceptance criteria
- Assesses business value and prioritizes all stories to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that align with strategy
- Ensures stories clearly communicate customer/stakeholder needs to the Scrum team; work with team to clarify stories as necessary
- Understands and supports inter-team dependencies and escalates prioritization issues when necessary
- Sets and communicates the team’s scope for the current iteration.
- 3+ years of hands-on Underwriting experience or Agile Project Owner experience
- Associates/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Ability to successfully facilitate collaboration across multiple functions, departments and levels.
- Delivers meaningful results
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to develop productive working relationships with both technical and non-technical partners
- Agile certification is a plus (i.e. SAFe Product Manager / Product Owner)
- Understands key provider data business objectives and strategy
