NASA Langley’s Integrated Design and Collaboration Center (IDC^2) is a concurrent design facility made up of human and technology resources which provides a collaborative engineering environment for rapidly generating innovative advanced concept designs. It is real-time design development in an integrated environment. Every study team is made up of subject matter experts that utilizes concurrent engineering methodologies to complete rapid design, analysis, or evaluation for all phases of design, from concept to flight. The IDC provides diverse specialists working in real time in the same place, with hard data, to yield an integrated result.
Job Description
The Aerospace Systems Engineering Collaboration Leader will act as a facilitator and provide technical leadership for all IDC studies, working with the study team, subject matter experts (SMEs) external to the study team, and center management (as available), leading the group through the full IDC process with support from the IDC Coordinator. The Facilitator will be physically present for all in-person and hybrid sessions conducted in order to provide the level of engagement required. Virtual sessions can be facilitated remotely. The Facilitator will identify and propose innovative technologies, methods, and approaches to lead the implementation of advanced concepts of IDC capabilities, such as enhancements to existing AR/VR capabilities, integration with the Maker Space, creation of MBSE model repositories, etc.
Skills and Experience

  • B.S. in Engineering or Computer Science required, M.S. in Systems Engineering desired
  • Experience in systems engineering, aerospace and mechanical applications desired
  • Leading and directing diverse team’s discussions and activities to ensure inclusion
  • Command of general engineering
  • Clear and effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to be objective and unbiased
  • Design and systems thinking
  • Able to adapt and problem solve in a timely manner
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Familiarity with collaboration and systems engineering technologies such as AR/VR, Maker Space tools, MBSE tools, trade study methodologies, kan ban boards
