Requisition Summary

The PACCAR Innovation Center, located in Sunnyvale, California, focuses on exploring and advancing cutting edge technologies for all of PACCAR’s businesses. We have a fully equipped truck lab with three bays and four trucks, a modern machine shop, an electronics prototyping workspace, along with 3D printers. We are a small, tightly knit team of engineers that value collaboration and results. We are looking for an ambitious, enthusiastic, and self-directed Automotive Engineering Manager to complement our unique skillsets. If you have a strong desire to build new things, and a proven track record of excellence, this is a great opportunity.

You’ll lead the automotive engineering team, coordinating with our software and systems engineering manager, to make our proof-of-concept projects a reality. Technology areas of focus include driver assistance, cutting edge sensors, electrification and developer platforms.

Your daily activities will require you to investigate new technologies, ideate concepts, design features, and fabricate systems to be installed on our test trucks for evaluation. You’ll coordinate with and report out to various divisions to show how these advanced technologies can strengthen PACCAR products and services. Additionally, by working in this great facility, you will participate in activities hosted at the Innovation Center, and around Silicon Valley, such as technology events, customer visits, startups demos and discussions.

Basic Qualifications / Skills

• 5+ years of product development experience, preferably in vehicle engineering
• A detailed understanding of the many systems that reside on trucks
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in developing prototypes and supporting evaluation activities
• Skilled at generating and managing technical requirements per the V-model, and comfort with related processes
• Strong desire to build relationships across PACCAR to collaborate on tough challenges
• Ability to self-direct in the face of ambiguity
• Good at leading highly skilled people
• Skilled at communicating complex technical information to individuals of different backgrounds
• Can multitask and manage a wide range of ad hoc projects, including some site infrastructure
• Enjoys coming up with new ideas and moving them forward
• Helpful, collaborative, and positive

The salary range for the Automotive Engineering Manager is $106,300 - $166,300 annually. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above, including the COLA premium.
