We are looking for an Advanced Materials Subject Matter Expert with a TS/SCI and demonstrated experience in cutting edge technology, engineering, analysis of alternatives, capability management and demonstration (including technology transfer), technical demonstrations and evaluations, and requirements analysis. Our SME can demonstrate specialized skills in Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E)

A week in the life of an Advanced Material Subject Matter Expert:
- Explore innovative new materials and novel manufacturing techniques that can dramatically improve our nation’s programs.
- Track department-wide budget for efforts aligning with Advanced Materials and maintain and update advanced material and manufacturing modernization roadmaps, coordinated roadmaps with key stakeholders.
- Participate in DoD and non-DoD Services/Agencies program reviews and make SME recommendations to ensure successful outcomes
- Develop and coordinate concepts and requirements for the application of current and emerging technologies as they apply to DoD's R&E program.
- Provide programmatic expertise to the Government from system concept definition through technology transfer activities.
- Assess and advise on Joint Capability Technology Demonstrations (JCTD) requirements, capabilities, limitations, and constraints as they pertain to defense mission resilience and national security.
- Represent USD R&E on Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and participate in Government-approved conferences and forums in addition to specific USD R&E projects.
- Assist in the assembly, writing, editing, and coordination of reports to Congress. This work includes drafting guidance memos, supporting DoD-wide coordination, data-calls, data collection and analysis of data products.
- Prepare technical documentation for senior DoD leadership to support formal meetings and workshops.
- Provide objective advice, expertise and specialized skills in, but not limited to, supporting projects related to Advanced Materials & Manufacturing.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to colleagues, subordinates, commercial clients and government representatives.
- Assure the proper use of current or requested programming, testing and documentation techniques.
- Produce and/or review documentation and reports reflecting knowledge of areas as identified in the statement of work.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $180k - $200k. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. - 10 years of experience of engineering, cybersecurity, and Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) required
- Minimum of 5-years of recent experience in Materials Science
- Master’s degree in a STEM discipline
- TS/SCI Clearance
- Previous experience with:
- Department of Defense RDT&E mission and processes.
- Engineering, analysis of alternatives, integration, requirements, and testing.
- Material and Manufacturing programs.
- Cross-Domain Solutions experience.
