Job Summary

Madisonville Community College (MCC) serves credit, dual credit, adult education and workforce development students in a three-county region of Northwest Kentucky. The college also serves several counties in Southwest Indiana by offering in-state tuition. MCC is one of 16 colleges in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS). The college and its faculty and staff are focused on student and community development and success. MCC is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Madisonville Community College is seeking a friendly and dedicated professional to serve as a part-time adult education instructor in a correctional facility.

Work Day and Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays (8:15-11:15am) plus flexible planning

Grant Funded: Grant assigned through June 30, 2023 (continuing based on grant funding)

Job Duties:

• Provides Literacy level and English language learning instruction for Reading For Language Arts (RLA) and Mathematics.
• Plans and provides instruction in academic skills instruction, GED preparation, and workplace instruction for eligible adults in correctional facility.
• Administers and interprets appropriate placement and diagnostic assessments for adult students.
• Must complete required Kentucky Department of Corrections trainings.
• Applies research-based instructional practices that incorporate the use of computers and other technologies.
• Assesses and monitors learning.
• Provides classroom management.
• Maintains lesson plans and syllabi for each course taught.
• Participates in professional development required by Kentucky Adult Education.
• Maintains student records.
• Assists in the development of course offerings.
• Participates in retention and follow-up activities.
• Must follow all KCTCS and KYDOC Policies and Procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a content-related field. English, Reading, or Mathematics degree preferred.
• Score of NRS level 6 in Reading and Mathematics on the TABE A 11/12 assessment.
• Successfully earns a passing GED Ready score in subject area(s) being taught.
• Post-Secondary transcripts
