EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY
:
Performs duties for the administrative mission including maintaining office records, general accounting and communicating with parents and teachers.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintains all attendance records including issuing absentee and tardy slips and entering information into the computer each day.
2. Sends tardy letters to parents and documents their replies.
3. Notifies assistant principal when students have reached more than eight tardies.
4. Maintains Automated Substitute Kalling (ASK) system and finds substitutes for staff as required.
5. Greets the public, answers the phones, screens calls to principal, registers new students and assists staff as needed.
6. Assists with maintaining the school calendar.
7. Performs student withdrawal procedures to include notifying teacher and securing parents signature for release of records.
8. Collects and counts all monies received by school.
9. Maintains a receipt journal; deposits money at least twice weekly; enters checks and receipts into computer; balances books and completes sales tax form.
10. Publishes a weekly newsletter and a monthly calendar of events for the staff and students.
11. Conducts the Federal Impact study in the fall of each year.
12. Receives all orders using the computer via Dun and Bradstreet.
13. Maintains and verifies accuracy of time sheets for assigned classified personnel.
14. Assists with transferring/requesting of student records for In-District and Out-of-District transfers.
15. Provides typing services for teachers, counselors and assistant principals as needed.
16. Maintains absence from duty forms for teachers and staff.
17. Contacts substitutes for teachers and staff when an emergency arises.
18. Cross trains with the Principal's Secretary and the Data Processor.
19. Maintains a professional, respectful and friendly relationship with entire office staff.
20. Attends computer classes to learn and maintain currency in various software programs.
21. Serves as Notary.
22. Enters discipline reports into computer.
23. Occasionally dispenses medications.
24. Prepares work orders and purchase orders.
25. Maintains confidentiality of information.
26. Reports to work on time every day.
27. Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

- Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, equipment and clerical techniques
- Proficient typing, word processing, and file maintenance skills
- Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases and do word processing
- Ability to use Windows operating systems, word processing program, preferably Microsoft Word and spreadsheet program, Microsoft Excel
- Valid Texas Drivers License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District
