Sherman & Howard is seeking a dynamic Administrative Assistant in our Denver office.

The Administrative Assistant supports Practice Assistants and other non-legal staff firmwide by assisting on projects ranging from large scale to smaller administrative tasks. Strong candidates should possess solid interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with clients, attorneys, and staff.


Responsibilities:

  • Process check requests
  • Prepare expense reports
  • Assist attorneys with weekly time entry
  • Provide support with various billing tasks, including proforma edits
  • Draft, proof and edit basic correspondence
  • Help with New Business Intake procedures, including new matter reports and engagement letters
  • Reserve conference rooms and work with Hospitality Services for making lunch arrangements
  • Assist with mailing and shipping tasks
  • Upload and file documents into the Document Management System
  • Carry out administrative duties such as printing, typing, copying, binding, scanning etc.
  • Assist team of Practice Assistants and other Administrative Assistants as needed
  • Maintain ongoing communication with legal and non-legal support staff while performing work assignments
  • Maintain a daily log of all work product to help track the type of work requests being sent to the Legal Support Services team
  • Edit, review, and release proformas using Paperless Proforma platform
  • Support Practice Assistants with preparation of final invoices
  • Convert final invoices to PDF
  • Upload invoices to DMS/client folder
  • Assist with issuing final invoices to clients
  • Utilize Chrome River to obtain back-up documentation to be submitted with client monthly invoices, including third-party payors

Requirements:
  • 1-3 years of administrative assistant experience, preferably in a law firm.
  • Familiarity with general processes, systems philosophies, structure, methods and approaches of mid-to-large sized firms.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to proofread a variety of documents with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to establish good rapport with attorneys, clients, and other staff.
  • Ability to think creatively and work independently.
  • Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Exceptionally strong organizational skills and work ethic in delivering client products promptly.
  • Proficient in using software systems such as Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task, while working effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.

Sherman & Howard offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefit package, including medical, dental, vision, life, long term disability, flexible spending, 401K, Paid Time Off, paid holidays, bonus and more. The salary range for this position is $40,000 – $55,000/year. Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted information based on work experience, education, and/or skill level.
