The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg, a skilled nursing and independent living community, is actively seeking candidates for an Activities Manager. This position will plan, organize, develop, and manage the overall operation of the Activities Department and Volunteer Services to assure that an ongoing program of activities designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident is maintained.
The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg is offering a $2,000 sign-on/retention bonus for a full time Activities Manager. Occasional, or casual, positions do not qualify. Bonuses will be paid in increments over a specified period of time.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the services and needs of the resident and family.
- Maintain productive working relationship with the medical profession and other health related facilities and organizations.
- Coordinate activities and volunteer services with other departments.
- Make written/oral reports/recommendations to administration concerning the operation of the department.
- Handle emergencies as they come up (i.e., rescheduling work assignments and work schedules, etc.).
- Interpret the department’s policies and procedures to team members, residents, visitors, government agencies, etc., monitoring to assure compliance.
- Participate in surveys by authorized government agencies; review and develop a plan of correction for deficiencies noted during survey inspections and provide a written report to the Administrator.
- Develop, implement and maintain a continuous quality improvement program.
- Meet with administration and nursing staff, as well as other related departments in planning programs.
- Serve on, participate in and attend various committees of the facility.
- Develop/implement policies/procedures for identification of medically related activity needs of residents.
- Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submitting such to the Administrator as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related healthcare field.
- Certified Recreational Therapy Specialist preferred; or
- Must be a qualified Recreation Specialist or an Activities Professional who is licensed by Pennsylvania and is eligible for certification as a Recreation Specialist or as an Activities Professional; or
- Must have two (2) years of experience in a social or recreations program within the last five (5) years, one (1) of which was full time in a patient activities program in a healthcare setting; or
- Must be a qualified Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 50 lbs.
