DESCRIPTION
The Accounts Receivables Specialist performs daily accounting and insurance-related activities to meet the
company’s billing & collection goals. Accounts Receivables & Collections Specialist ensures that accurate billing is
managed for services rendered and is responsible for collecting payments from insurance payors through A/R
analysis and reporting. In the event of a claim being denied, it is the responsibility of the AR Representative to
address the denial and resolve the issue accurately and effectively to resolution through resubmissions,
reconsiderations, and appeals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Works with healthcare providers and insurance companies to ensure timely payment of claims
• Performs corrected or modified resubmissions, reconsiderations, and appeals on denied claims
• Ensures processing of payments from insurance companies
• Maintains payment status and billing records
• Prepares reports and performs analysis of billing documents for coding accuracy
• Documents transactions appropriately
• Tracks and resolves billing discrepancies all the way through completion
• Resolve insurance denials by resubmitting corrected claims, submitting medical records, and writing appeals letters in a timely manner
• Follow-up with insurance companies on any unpaid claims
• Monitor claims for denial trends to prevent future denials, and ensure efficient claim processing
• Manages insurance claims by running aging reports
• Meet defined department goals
• Make adjustments to accounts, as needed
• Prepares refund in AR system for payment
• Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED - Must Haves*

• 3+ years' experience performing related duties- prefer full cycle billing experience
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to manage priorities and workflow
• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated critical thinking and logic abilities
• Working knowledge of HIPAA and PHI security requirements

Nice to have but not required:

• Full cycle billing experience
• Behavioral health or addiction recovery treatment services billing preferred but not required
• Experience working with electronic medical records technology Lightning Step preferred but not required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
• In a 12-hour workday: standing/walking up to 12 hours per day
• You must have the ability to use tools and equipment required for the position
• Mental Focus: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
