Temporary Accounting Specialist

Orange County Government is looking for a temporary accounting specialist that will assist with financial transactions for various social services programs. The position will be based in DeLand with working hours from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.

Illustrative Duties:

• Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word and Adobe
• Possesses knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting and has the ability to apply this knowledge in varied work situations
• Answers semi-complex, or semi-technical questions from the public in areas of responsibility
• Holds the ability to make mathematical calculations with accuracy and reasonable speed
• Has the capability to work rapidly and under stressful conditions
• Possesses knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment
• The position will report directly to a supervisor and will provide daily progress reports and maintain ample communication with supervisor
• This position will be assisting in processing vendor documentation, such as W-9’s
• The position will help processing vendor payments by verifying all of the paperwork submitted is complete and accurate before processing
• Supports in processing accounts payable activity via credit card, invoice, electronic file and other means to evaluate account coding, comparing pricing of services/products to purchase orders and contracts, confirms budget availability, compares expenditure activity to grant guidelines, as well as, local, state and federal laws and regulations

Hourly Pay Rate: $15.00

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Orlando, FL: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

• Accounting: 2 years (Required)
