Accountant Supervisor Job at DMR-Southeast Region
The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is searching for a qualified Accountant Supervisor (Accountant III) to fill a Supervisory position in the Southeast Regional Business Office, in Middleboro, MA. The Accounting Supervisor will perform a full array of financial functions and provide supervision to accounting staff. This position will review agency accounting procedures, reports, etc. for accuracy, updating and correcting to ensure conformance with established reporting requirements and will recommend changes or improvements in accounting and office procedures. The candidate will maintain the database records for several applications. The Accountant III will act as the back-up to the Regional Business Manager and Assistant Business Manager.
Job Responsibilities: (The duties and responsibilities stated are general summary and not all inclusive.)
- Supervise the Accountant II staff.
- Oversee and entering lower subsidiary requisitions in Commbuys
- Preparation and input of purchasing documents into Massachusetts Management Accounting and Reporting System (MMARS) for a budget of over $20 million.
- Proof, and advise all purchasing staff’s encumbrances in excess of 12,000 documents per year.
- Independently resolves procurement issues/activities while meeting the service needs of the DDS Southeast Region and Wrentham Developmental Center.
- Monitor and validate agency financial records; applies knowledge of purchasing principles and provides technical assistance regarding State Procurement rules and regulations.
- Confer with the Regional Business Manager and Assistant Regional Business Manager with issues or concerns pertaining to OSD in relation to statewide contracts or Commbuys procurement management system, CTR for MMARS inquiries and OVM for fleet management.
- Coordinate state owned property repair request WDC/SRS property management to ensure appropriate actions are taken and assist in prioritizing to addressing Health and safety issues.
- Reconcile financial documents (audits), records, transactions, and statements to ensure conformance with established standards and best practices.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
- Supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of MMARS and Commbuys.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel/Access/Word.
- Excellent organizational and Communication skills.
SCHEDULE INFORMATION:
Full-time – 37.5 hour weekly position.
Schedule Monday through Friday, 8:45 AM to 5:00 PM
Days off – Saturday and Sunday
