Reporting to the Executive Team, the Accountant will be responsible for performing detailed accounting work and financial transactions. The Accountant will be working closely with the Sr. Accountants/Accounting Managers/Directors in capturing current and accurate financial information. This job is based predominantly in our North Haledon Office.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Process and/or manage payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable

* Ensure accounts receivable and accounts payable are current (less than 90 days)

* Reconcile bank and credit card statements

* Review and post investment accounts

* Review all uncleared checks and deposits for items over 120 days

* Prepare and manage various schedules, such as Prepaids, Depreciation, etc.

* Analyze and prepare financial statements on a monthly basis for the Accounting Manager’s/Director’s review

* Manage annual audits and ensure all required schedules are completed timely

* Assist clients with the preparation of the Form 990, and other benefit, tax and regulatory schedules

* Prepare 1099's on behalf of clients

* Perform ad-hoc accounting tasks on an as-needed basis

EDUCATION | SKILL REQUIREMENTS

* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; or pursing a degree if applying for internship position

* Min. GPA 3.5

* Knowledge of nonprofit accounting and QuickBooks a plus

* Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

* Computer literacy with intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Excel
