Summary:
Summary

The Account Manager is responsible to develop and maintain current customer relationships to
grow revenue from tobacco and other company product sales; develop new relationships with
a targeted prospect list to grow new business. Assists management with forecasting, product
promotion concepts and oversees the Brand Ambassador Program.

Essential Functions

  • Develops effective working relationships with current assigned customers by consistent
contact both in person and via phone/email
  • Follows the required contact goals for the customer list
  • Manages all customer activities to maximize sales opportunities and grow revenue
  • Consistently uses company sales packages/offers to inform the customer and generate
new sale opportunities
  • Provides exceptional customer service during the sales process and works with other
company staff to ensure a seamless transition between sales and customer
service/production staff
  • Responsible to assist in merchandising the product at the retail level through POS
materials; tobacco sales training or other consultation with the customer as needed
  • Develops a targeted prospect list in assigned territories through research and referral
opportunities and follows the required prospect and contact goals for the list
  • Responsible to meet assigned sales goals on a monthly basis
  • Oversees execution of the Brand Ambassador Program. Program focuses on providing
on-site promotion support by part-time staff and contracted personnel at select
customer locations.
  • Responsible to complete all company required sales courses, either internal or external.
Becomes a Subject Matter Expert in company tobacco and Native products; and
competitor products
  • Continually monitors changes in the market, competitors and marketing opportunities
that may affect company sales
  • Develops a weekly written plan of customers visits, prospect contacts and sales
presentations that is shared with the supervisor prior to the contact.
  • Responsible on a weekly basis to update CRM software for current customer and
prospect activity; KDMS, sales pitches and other communication
  • Works in a team environment with other company staff to develop new ideas for sales
and marketing; special events or other sales packages as required by management

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in both outdoor and indoor settings. This position may require physical work
with farm equipment and materials. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as
computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The
employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach
with hands and arms.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Typical Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00
a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Ability to travel 50% of the time to assigned territory.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a sales related field or equivalent combination of
education and experience
  • Proven sales experience in maximizing customer sales opportunities and generating new
business from targeted prospects
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • High degree of poise and professionalism
  • Tobacco industry knowledge or distributor/manufacturing industry knowledge a plus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software required
  • Knowledge of CRM software required
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to work in a deadline driven environment
  • Interact in team environment with other staff members to achieve efficient, seamless
workflow

Education

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Advertising or
a related field is required.

Maintains a valid driver’s license and be insurable under company insurance provider/program.
