Job Summary:

Newton-Wellesley Hospital is seeking an Academic Hospitalist to join our team with an affiliation and faculty appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for the care of adult patients admitted to the hospital, providing comprehensive medical care, managing acute medical conditions, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high-quality care. In addition, the candidate will have academic responsibilities including teaching, research, and scholarly activities.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care to adult patients admitted to the hospital.
• Manage acute medical conditions including but not limited to respiratory distress, sepsis, acute heart failure, and acute renal failure.
• Coordinate care with the multidisciplinary healthcare team including nurses, case managers, social workers, and consultants.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Supervise and teach medical students, residents, and fellows from Tufts University School of Medicine.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including patient safety, and quality of care.
• Conduct scholarly activities such as research and publications.

Requirements:

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine.
• Eligible for an academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with healthcare team members.
• Commitment to teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Ability to manage acute medical conditions and provide high-quality patient care.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience as a Hospitalist.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and patient safety.
• Experience in academic medicine.
• Track record of scholarly activities such as research and publications.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $239,000.00 - $295,000.00 per year
