About This Role:
The Academic Achievement Center at Kansas State University, situated within the larger Office of Student Success, is home to our Academic Coaching Program. We are looking for three Academic Coaches (two 12 month appointments and one 9 month appointment) to welcome to our team that bring unique perspectives and experiences; a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging; have an openness to learning and collaborative working environments; and center their work with a commitment to student success. We see our work as instrumental to supporting students as they work to achieve their personal, academic, and career goals.

Academic Coaches utilize an individual, goal-based coaching cycle where students self-identify areas of academic need to focus on during one-on-one meetings. Individuals in this role draw from the program's Academic Success Tools and employ the use of powerful questions to build a student's capacity to meet learning challenges as related to core areas of learning and personal success (time management, study skills, test-taking, communication, self-efficacy).

Skilled Academic coaches will:
Create safe and welcoming spaces for program participants who come from a range of cohorts including undergraduate students who are required to participate in Academic Coaching to students who elect to utilize coaching to meet their academic success goals.
Develop a rapport and positive, asset-based relationship with students and are adept at assessing student strengths and needs.
Take a collaborative approach to student support and facilitate referrals to other on campus resources as needed.
Follow up with students and communicate timely and effectively as needed with students, other AAC and coaching staff, and university faculty, staff, and campus partners.
Maintain accurate records of all student interactions utilizing K-State platforms for information sharing and reporting. Prepare data and report summaries related to both coaching activities and program outcomes for assessment purposes.

We are looking for team members that have a collaborative and outward facing mindset, ready to contribute to the larger student success work on our campus.

Academic Coaches will also need to:
Support the development of tools and resources for internal program needs and outward facing workshops and presentations to grow greater campus-wide experience with our Academic Success Tools and the principles of academic coaching.
Facilitate Academic Success workshops as requested by the campus community and partners.
Support the Office of Student Success approach and academic coaching practices through the development of relationships with campus partners by functioning as a liaison between Student Success and campus partners as needed for information/resource sharing, and collaboration.
Serves on Student Success engagement teams and university committees as needed.
In collaboration with assigned academic advisors, recommend necessary initial coursework tailored for incoming conditionally admitted students. A working knowledge of all academic colleges at Kansas State University is required.

The Academic Coaching Program provides academic coaching to the university's undergraduate and graduate student populations, students conditionally admitted, scholar student cohorts, and specific cohorts of students in partnership. We partner all across the university with the colleges, departments, programs, the division of Student Life, and many other campus partners.

Anticipated start date to align with Spring 2023 semester with an option to begin sooner.
