Position may be converted from 11-month 9-month, based on operational needs.
Continuation of position is dependent on program/operational needs and grand funding renewal.
The incumbent for this position will commute between the Molokai Education Center and Molokai High School to perform duties as needed per the program and operational needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assist Molokai HS students with college admissions/scholarship/FAFSA including early college.
  • Organize workshops and events on topics relating to higher education including preparing for college, placement testing, benefits of early admit programs, academic success strategies, and financial aid.
  • Promote a college going culture through college and career exploration and preparation activities such as career exploration, college visits (virtual), college and career fairs.
  • Work with Molokai schools on career exploration and alignment with HS pathways.
  • Manage procurement processes including payment of student tuition and books and purchasing of program equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain consistent and effective communication with students, families, schools and community partners involved in the project.
  • Coordinate partnerships with local schools and community agencies to host workshops, recruitment, enrollment and transitional activities.
  • Foster strong student retention rates by providing mentorship and promoting access to academic support tools and resources (tutoring, technology support, learning tools, etc.).
  • Create evaluation methods and systems for tracking student and program data for reporting.
  • Provide daily supervision of the Program Mentor.
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Hawaiian Studies, Business, Social Science or related field OR equivalent education/training or experience.
  • Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of education and/or project management demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with working in an educational setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the field of education and/or project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience in data gathering analysis, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently coordinate programs and events.
  • Experience in marketing and/or program recruitment.
  • Experience in providing educational services, counseling, mentoring or other assistance to individuals, including to minority or disadvantaged groups.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed, on- and off-campus settings.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including individuals from minority, low-income and/or rural settings.
  • Experience working with secondary aged students.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate spreadsheet and presentation software as well as utilize the Internet for information retrieval and navigate web-based software.
