2021-22 SAM (hourly position) - Student Assistant Job at Miami University
2021-22 SAM (hourly position) - Student Assistant
$8.80/hr - $9.65/hr
Orientation and Transition Programs provides new Miami students with opportunities to learn about the campus community and to begin building social connections to better prepare them for their experiences as undergraduate students. Orientation and Transition Programs staff supports both the academic and social transitions of our newest Miamians. The Orientation Student Coordinators, also known as SAMs (SOUL Advisors and Mentors), work directly with the Assistant Directors of Orientation and Transition Programs to recruit, select, train, and mentor the SOUL team, along with planning and implementing August, January, and summer orientation programs. Support will also be provided by the Director, Graduate Assistant, and Program Associate in Orientation and Transition Programs.
A Note About OTP Revisioning
Orientation and Transition Programs is currently reviewing all orientation-related practices to ensure that we are best serving our incoming students. In particular, we are reviewing our summer orientation programs to consider how we can best support Generation Z students. Program logistics in the post-pandemic era are also being considered. Because of this revisioning process, 2021 – 2022 Orientation Student Coordinators will have the opportunity to give feedback, brainstorm new ideas, and aid in the implementation of a revisioned orientation program. This also means that the Orientation Student Coordinator position will require significant flexibility in terms of dates and practices.
Should you be offered and accept the Orientation Student Coordinator position, please discuss any summer 2022 plans (e.g., family vacations, other jobs/internships) ahead of finalizing those plans. We’ve got some exciting times ahead of us!
