About 2|42

2|42 is passionate and committed to reaching the communities they serve on a daily basis. With seven locations and more coming, 2|42 is a great place for a leader who is looking to make a massive impact through teaching and leading the volunteer teams.

2|42 Community Church began as a prayer. A small group of Christ-followers felt as though God was asking them to start a new church in rapidly growing Livingston County. This prayer was for a community of people who wholeheartedly followed Christ and were radical and innovative in their approach to declaring and demonstrating the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. The prayer lingered for years without, what seemed like, any progress. States away, God was preparing a pastor and was beginning to gather a team of people.

2|42 Community Church launched on February 13, 2005, with 500 people. By the fall of 2008, 2|42 had grown to 1,000 people and formed a launch team for a brand new campus in Ann Arbor. The two locations would share one name and vision. Today 2|42 has seven campuses reaching over 5,000 people weekly located within mid and southeast Michigan.

The name 2|42 comes from Acts 2:42 where Luke describes the birth of the early church. They believe this model of community is the best tool to help people take next steps with God.

With powerful simplicity, the vision of 2|42 is to be a community “helping people take next steps with God.” To help people take next steps, they encourage people to Know God, Grow with Others and Change the World.

With the community in mind, in 2013, 2|42 opened their first Community Center. A newly remodeled facility that would not only serve as a 1,200 seat worship space for the church, but a place for the community, in the community. The 2|42 Community Center has three “missional businesses” in it: Simply Fresh Cafe, CrossFit Gym, and School For The Arts. In 2016, 2|42 opened their second Community Center in Ann Arbor that is roughly ½ the floor space, but with similar community impact as the Brighton Community Center. Both are open throughout the week for the community to come and enjoy, with indoor playscapes, meeting rooms and indoor activity spaces such as soccer fields and basketball courts. Title—Teaching and Volunteer Engagement Pastor

Reports to—Eric Rauch - Executive Pastor of Ministry Operations

Position Summary:

As the Volunteer Engagement Pastor, you would oversee the creation and implementation of leadership development for volunteers across 7-campuses. As a Teaching Pastor, this new leader will be an Anchor (primary) speaker at a campus 25-30 times (potentially Ann Arbor). This role will also sit on the Operations Team. This team meets bi-weekly and gives direction and makes decisions for all of 2|42.
